During the negotiations, the following conversation took place between the leaders of the two superpowers.

Ronald Reagan : What would you do if the United States were suddenly attacked by an alien power, would you help us?

Mikhail Gorbachev : Of course, you can have no doubt about it.

Ronald Reagan : We would have done the same for you.

Ronald Reagan : Perhaps we need an extraterrestrial threat to make us realize that we are all one. I believe that in the face of such a threat our differences would disappear worldwide in an instant. And I ask you, is there not already an alien power among us?

Now, remembering the words of the leaders of the two superpowers above, I would like to take you to an event that happened a few years later, on the evening of September 27, 1989. Voronezh, about 500 kilometers south-east of Moscow, is the host of a very important event.

In South Park, a park near a bus stop called Mashmet, a pink orb of light appeared in the evening sky. Under people's gaze, the light turned deep red as it got closer. Three children, Vasya Surin, Genya Blinov and Julia Sholokhova, who were playing soccer in the park, were watching in amazement. The orb of light came to within 10 or 12 meters of the ground above the park. The grass was tilting in all directions in an orderly fashion from the center under the influence of the approaching object. Suddenly the mysterious orb suddenly lifted up and moved away, and a group of about 40 people, including adults, came running to where the children were. As they looked around and up at the sky, the sphere was back again, this time landing on the ground. Everyone present saw a hatch opening at the bottom of the sphere. In other words, that part of the sphere became transparent, because what is seen and their descriptions and realities may differ from time to time.

A creature with three eyes, allegedly three-eyed, was staring at them from the opening. After briefly scanning the area, the creature disappeared. At that moment, the sphere also landed on the ground. A hatch opened and that creature or another similar one came out. It looked like a strange and large robot in a suit of silver armor. A large but flattened orb-like head seemed to be placed on its shoulders. Above that head were three eyes close together. According to the children, the being was about three meters tall.

The creature said something and a bright rectangular light appeared in front of it. A robot appeared in the light, resembling a rectangular box. Then it said something else and the light disappeared. After a few adjustments, the box robot started to walk. At that moment a boy, terrified by what he saw, started to scream, but when the creature turned towards him, he collapsed as if paralyzed. A beam of light came out of the creature's eyes as it locked onto the boy and he was immobilized. This sent the crowd into an even greater panic. In an instant, the orb, the robot and the creature vanished.

Five minutes later the mysterious visitors reappeared. This time the tall figure was holding a long tube-like object. He pointed the stick-like tubular object at a boy of about 16, standing nearby and the boy disappeared. He simply disappeared, leaving no trace. The creature re-entered its spherical vehicle. As the sphere ascended, the boy who had disappeared reappeared.

After the incident, a group of Soviet scientists examined the scene and found diamond-shaped marks on the ground, all at the same level of depth. There were also several deep holes in the ground. The soil beneath the flattened grass was hardened, stone-like. Dr. Yuri Losovtsez estimated that the spherical object that landed on the ground weighed 11 tons. Radioactivity tests had also found several times the normal amount of cesium. And they also found two small crystallized fragments. At first thought to be sandstone crystals, it turned out that these fragments never existed on planet Earth. The police launched an investigation. The official Soviet news agency TASS reported on this mysterious event, although the police ignored the anomalous data.

All this happened between 18:00 and 21:00. Most people were interested in the glowing orb, while others were interested in the three-eyed creature and the box-shaped robot. In the United States, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch picked up the story and published it, and soon it was in the columns of the New York Times.

Let us now turn to the analysis of the strange, mysteriously veiled Voronezh incident. The Voronezh incident involves some unlikely events. For example, the extraordinary ability of the tube-like device to paralyze onlookers. Similar hand-held devices are a common feature of many UFO encounters and these devices affect people from a distance.

A French farmer Maurice Masse was paralyzed in 1965. Maurice Masse was immobilized as a short creature emerged from a landing craft and held a flat tool in its hand.

Georges Gatay witnessed the incident in which the man holding such a tool was dressed in clothes and his head was covered by a dome-shaped helmet-like thing. He was holding a short straight stick. Gatay and his team of seven construction workers were simultaneously neutralized and disappeared.

This kind of incidents of incapacitating people with a stick or something like that go back to the Middle Ages and even to some fairy tales and mythological stories. For this reason alone, the story of rods incapacitating people in this spontaneous event seems credible. Or the repetitions of people influenced by fairy tales.

The interesting thing is that this event, which you think happened once, happened several more times between September 21 and September 29, 1989. So much so that a book was written on the subject in 1990. UFO Chronicles of the Soviet Union. It was written by Jacques Vallee.  Unfortunately, the incidents were not limited to Voronezh. There were reports of UFO encounters all over the Soviet Union. And not just ordinary people, but pilots, air traffic officers, astronomers, astronomers and even soldiers were reporting them. Why were so many UFOs suddenly appearing over the USSR? Some attributed this to the Soviet perestroika (restructuring) and democratization (democratization) known as Glastnost at the time (1985 - 1991), but there was no solid basis for this claim.  This baseless claim was based on the fact that transparency was the goal in the country, hence the public scrutiny of UFO news and its sharing with the world through the official news agency. What is more, according to some, all these reports were lies and were only fabricated to show that this policy of openness was working. Of course, such ideas, which had no valid basis, were discarded, leaving only news from the USSR's natural enemy, the USA.

One day, Ronald Reagan and his wife (during his term as Mayor of California) were on their way to a meeting organized by fellow actors when they saw a UFO in the sky. He and his wife pulled over and watched it. When they attended the meeting, Reagan openly shared this with his friends. But Reagan's UFO encounter did not end there. In 1974, while traveling in a Governor's plane to Bakersfield, California, a ball of light appeared behind the plane. According to the pilot's account, at first the object was following them at a steady speed a few hundred meters behind. After a while, the object seemed to stretch (perhaps due to the relativistic effects of extremely accelerating objects relative to the observer) and began to accelerate. When it passed in front of the plane, it started to rise at an angle of about 45 degrees and suddenly disappeared from sight. When the pilot reported this, he did not neglect to add that he had seen high-speed jets, but that the acceleration of the object he saw was not comparable to that of an airplane. This left a deep impression on Ronald Reagan. When Reagan became President of the United States, he did not hesitate to imply that he was sure that there was a group of people in the government who had deep knowledge about UFOs.  It is for these reasons that in the introduction to this article we quoted his meeting with Gorbachev and expressed his fear.

Indeed, instead of saying that humanity's only enemy is always itself, what if we could say that humanity is always united against any possible external threat.
